Good news for RuPay cardholders. Payment can now be made even without the internet. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) said on Wednesday that it is adding a new facility for offline payment for RuPay contactless cards. Work has also started on a pilot basis. However, the area must have a point of sale (POS) for the transaction.

NPCI stated that as the NCMC card is reloadable, customers will have ease of transactions. This is because even in a weak network, easy and fast retail transactions can be done on a POS machine.

According to the retail payment network, this is going to be a special feature for cardholders. Because the new feature allows for short transactions even without a weak network or Internet. This includes payment of metro tickets, bus tickets, cab fare, etc. The thing that makes it special is that it works faster than normal transactions. All you have to do is fill in the information and the payment is easily completed in a short period of time.

Nalin Bansal, chief of RuPay and NPCI, said, "We believe this will help dream of a cashless economy." The contactless offline facility in the form of digital payments will be strengthened in the country. This type of service was approved by the Reserve Bank (RBI) a few days ago. This facility will be for small payments only. This payment is different from the offline payment mode. For this, the cardholder needs a separate wallet, the facility of which is now available to cardholders as well.
