Corona can spread up to 10 meters in the air: Government's new advisory on corona transition, spread aerosol 5 times away from droplets

The aerosol of a person infected with corona can spread up to 10 meters away, while droplets go up to 2 meters. The government on Thursday issued guidelines to avoid corona through a new advisory. Guidelines released from the office of Chief Scientific Adviser K Vijay Raghavan state that people who do not show symptoms of corona can also spread the infection. That’s why people follow the Corona protocol.

The better the ventilation, the lower the risk of spreading the infection

The document, titled "Stop the Transmission, Crush the Pandemic" from the government, emphasizes the importance of ventilation in particular. It states that places with good ventilation facilities have the lowest risk of transitioning from one infected person to another. At the same time, it is said that keeping the windows and doors closed and turning on the AC keeps the infected air in the room and increases the risk of transmission to another person.

The government said saliva in the form of droplets and aerosols from an infected person's nose is the root cause of the spread of the infection, but the risk of infection is reduced if outside air is coming in.

Documents released by the government also state that infected droplets can stay on different surfaces for a long time. That is why keep cleaning door handles, light switches, table-chairs etc. with disinfectants like bleach, phenyl.

Advice to wear a double layer mask 

The government has said people should wear a double layer mask or N95 mask, so more can be avoided. If wearing a double layer mask, first wear a surgical mask and then a tight fitting cloth mask. One can wear two cotton masks if one does not have a surgical mask.

The surgical mask should be used once, but if worn twice, the surgical mask can be used five times. Should be left in the sun for 7 days after each use.
